Privacy policy
Family history is personal. Here is how information moves through Kynro, and what you can control.
Draft updated October 1, 2026
1. Who this policy covers
This policy describes the Kynro family-history service at kynro.me. It covers visitors and account holders, as well as information about relatives that account holders choose to add. The legal operator’s name must be added before this draft is finalised. For privacy questions, email privacy@kynro.me.
2. Information we handle
When you create an account, we process your email address, display name, and authentication information. Supabase Auth manages passwords and sessions. Your workspace contains the information you enter, such as relatives’ names, relationships, dates, places, notes, memories, photos, documents, and appearance preferences.
Our hosting and authentication providers may also process technical information, including IP addresses, browser information, request logs, and sign-in activity, to deliver and protect the service. Avoid adding government identifiers, financial credentials, or other sensitive information that is unnecessary for your family history.
3. How information is used
Information is used to authenticate you, load and save your workspace, store and retrieve files, apply your preferences, and operate and secure the service. Kynro does not include advertising trackers or third-party analytics SDKs in the current application code. We do not sell your family content or use it for targeted advertising.
4. Storage, providers, and access
Supabase provides authentication, database storage, and private file storage. Vercel hosts the website. These providers process information to run their services; see the Supabase privacy policy and Vercel privacy policy. Processing locations depend on the configured services and may be outside your country.
Account access rules restrict your saved workspace and files to your account. Full files are retrieved using temporary access links. This is not end-to-end encryption: authorised service administration and provider operations may require access. No online service can guarantee complete security.
Information may also be disclosed when legally required or necessary to investigate misuse or protect the service and people using it. Your tree is not published in a public directory. When you export or share a copy, you control where that copy goes.
5. Browser storage
Supabase persists authentication session information in your browser so you can remain signed in. Current family workspace data is saved in the cloud rather than localStorage or IndexedDB. Older device-only trees may remain on the device until you remove them. See Cookies & storage for more detail.
6. Retention and your choices
Your workspace is retained so you can return to it. You can edit family information, export an archive, or use Account settings → Your data → Erase all family data. Erasure clears the saved family workspace and attempts to remove account media; if file cleanup fails, the app reports it so you can retry. Unused uploads can remain until this cleanup is performed.
Erasing family data does not delete your login account or appearance preferences. Downloads, shared copies, and older device-only trees are not erased. Provider backups and security logs may remain under provider retention schedules. A fixed retention period must be confirmed before this draft is finalised. For account deletion or other privacy requests, email privacy@kynro.me.
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or obtain a copy of personal information, object to processing, or complain to a privacy authority. We may need to verify identity and consider applicable legal obligations and other people’s rights when handling requests.
7. Relatives and children
Respect the privacy of living relatives and only add information you are entitled to use. Consider their permission before uploading private photographs or sensitive details. Kynro is intended for adult account holders, not for children to create accounts. Adults may include family-history information about children when they have the appropriate permission and authority.
8. Updates and contact
Changes will be reflected on this page with an updated date. Material changes to information handling should be communicated before they take effect where required. For privacy questions, requests, or concerns about uploaded content, contact privacy@kynro.me.
